Absaroka Fence Initiative

Why?

  • Fencing is an essential piece of our landscape, yet when wildlife and fences intersect, the result can be costly for both wildlife populations and landowners.  By bringing together the expertise and resources of our partners into a shared initiative, we can more effectively enhance wildlife movement and livestock functionality by adding, modifying, or removing fences.
  • Working in cooperation with willing landowners and land managers, Absaroka Fence Initiative aims to ensure fences are functional for livestock management and wildlife movement across the landscape through on-the-ground projects, public workdays, and outreach to the community.

Partners

  • This group is comprised of a diverse set of stakeholders including but not limited to, landowners, managers, producers, sportsmen, conservationists, community members, local leadership, government agencies, foundations, granters, and outdoor enthusiasts.

How?

  • This initiative brings together a broad partnership of landowners, community, non-governmental organizations, and local government agencies, to contribute their expertise and resources toward the shared goal of making fences functional for livestock management, wildlife, and people using public workdays, contracted projects, and education and outreach.

Budget

  • Funding for fence projects is ongoing.
